30 Gratitude Journal Prompts for Christian Women

The trouble with gratitude journaling is that most of us run out by day four. Family, health, home, coffee. All true, all quickly exhausted.

Psalm 139:23 is the prayer underneath the whole list. Search me, God, and know my heart. Try me, and know my thoughts. Searching is the work these prompts do, and it is worth noticing that the psalm asks God to do it rather than claiming to have managed it alone. These thirty prompts go looking in less obvious places. One a day gives you a month.

The Ordinary Day

1. What went right today that I did not have to arrange?

2. What did my body do for me today without being asked?

3. What made me laugh this week?

4. What small comfort did I have today that most of the world does not?

5. What was quiet, and welcome?

6. What did I get to choose today?

7. What would I miss most about this ordinary week if it ended?

The People

8. Who showed up for me recently without being asked?

9. Who has stayed through a season when it would have been easier to go?

10. Who taught me something I still use?

11. Who prays for me?

12. Whose voice do I hear when I am deciding something hard?

13. Who was kind to me when they had no reason to be?

14. Who am I glad I have not lost touch with?

The Hard Things

15. What difficulty am I now grateful I went through?

16. What did I not get, that I am relieved about now?

17. Who did I only meet because something went wrong?

18. What have I survived that I did not think I would?

19. What is hard right now that still has something good inside it?

20. What has this season taught me that ease would not have?

What God Has Done

21. What has He carried that I did not have to?

22. What prayer has He answered that I forgot asking?

23. Where has He said no, and been right?

24. What has He provided at the last moment?

25. What has He protected me from that I only found out about later?

Who God Is

26. What do I love about His character?

27. What promise am I leaning on this week?

28. Which of His names means the most to me right now?

29. What does it mean today that He does not change?

30. What would I want to thank Him for if I could only say one thing?

How to Use Them

Write the prompt and answer it specifically. "My husband" is a category. "That he made the coffee without being asked on Thursday" is a memory, and it is the specific ones you will want to read back.

Three lines is enough. This is meant to fit in the day you already have.
